Less is More #317 - Sketch 19

Hello there! It's great to see you here again. Thank you so much for popping by.Well, it's that time of the week again.... time time to share with you my DT makes for the next challenge over at the Less is More challenge blog.

I have 3 cards to share today.

It is also the last week of our '6th birthday month' so we have another sponsor in:

and the incredibly talented Bev has joined us as a guest designer. What a beauty of a card she made. Do please pop over to her blog to leave some warm and fuzzy commenting love for her. I'm sure the rest of the LIM DT would also appreciate a visit from you too - we all love to see what you say about our makes.

Anyway, the challenge this time is:

1) True to the sketch

This first card is absolutely true to the layout of the sketch. Clean lines and citrus colours - just stamping and fussy cutting and a die cut circle. A great 5 minute card to make.

STAMPS: Unico - flower power 1
DISTRESS INKS: Twisted Citron, mowed lawn, fossilised amber
OTHER: white linen card, String that I dyed green, gold gem.

I'd like to pop this one in at
Crafty Sentiments  - Spring
Crafting By Designs - It's Almost Spring

2) Mirror image hibiscus

Here I decided to do a mirror image of the sketch in some loose, washy but hot colours of distress ink and a bit of bling embossing.

STAMPS: Unico - Paradise
DISTRESS STAINS: Dried marigold, spiced marmalade, worn lipstick, picked raspberry, festive berries
INKS: Hobbycraft burgundy, Stayzon saddle brown, Versamark clear.
OTHER: Watercolour paper, splatter brush, misti, picket fence distress marker, white crayon

I'd like to pop this one in at
Ikes World Challenge #82 - Anything goes with at twist of Nature
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
Try it on Tuesday - Let's get messy (Inks/Paint etc)

3) Flipped in a panel

Finally I flipped the sketch both on the vertical and horizontal axis and used it in a panel on a larger card. Just heat embossing, doodling and die cut sentiment on the panel but a pretty elegant feel nonetheless.

STAMPS: Cadence craft - cannot see a name on the stamp set
DIE: Altenew - majestic bloom die set
EMBOSSING POWDER - WOW! Opaque Bright White superfine
OTHER: Silver glitter card, silver pearlescent card, white linen card, Versamarker embossing pen, 3d foam pads

I'd like to pop this one in at:
City Crafter #350 - Stitching faux or real
Stampavie and More #281 - Embossing heat or dry

I've only just noticed that 3 more amazing 'friends' have decided to follow me - shame on me for not noticing before! Thank you so much for your support; it is lovely to count you as new friends.

Thank you so much for coming over to visit today.
I hope these cards will inspire you to join us at the LIM challenge this week

Take care and have a great week.

Less is More #316 - Alphabet

Hello there friends!

Lovely to have you pop back this week.  We're continuing the birthday celebrations at Less is More  with yet another fun challenge:

And the sponsor for birthday week 3 is:
Store: http://stamplorations.com/
Blog: http://stamplorations.blogspot.com

The fabulous Shery from Stamplorations has joined us as guest designer this week and her card is gorgeous.  Please do take some time to hop over to her blog to leave some comment love.

Don't forget to visit the rest of the LIM DT too because they have also made some brilliant cards for this challenge. You can get to their blogs through the main challenge site HERE.

On to my cards - just the 2 from me today.

1) Birthday Rose

My first thought when seeing the challenge theme was 'Yikes! I don't have any alphabet stamps so I'd best use some alphabet die cut letters'. I like the way the white letters 'pop' against the flower on this card.
Ha ha! After I made this card I remembered I DO have alphabet stamps!! doh!

STAMPS: Altenew Majestic Bloom & Halftone Happy
DISTRESS INKS: spun sugar, picked raspberry, festive berries, fossilised amber, walnut stain
OTHER: Stickles - Star Dust, 3d foam pads, Die Cut Letters

I'd like to pop this one in at:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Fantastic florals
Make My Monday #39 - Shimmer and Shine
CAS(E) this Sketch - Sketch 209

2) Birthday Love

So once I remembered those alphabet stamps it was time to get out a NBUS stamp set that I have had for 6 years! Shame on me for not using it before!!! I went through a phase of buying a few alphabet stamp sets thinking I  would use them to personalise cards. Hmmm ..... that actually never happened.

Glad I remembered those stamps now. Isn't this just the cutest patterned alphabet? And doing a bit of random stamping was such fun.

STAMPS: Hero Arts pattern alphabet. Wow! just sayin' stamp set 41
INKS: Versacolor 19 cyan, 34 orchid, 37 lavender, 157 amethyst, 182, bisque
OTHER: white linen card, clear Wink of Stella, 3d foam pads

I'd like to enter this into
Addicted to Stamps and More! #229 - Clean and Simple
Cute Card Thursday #465 - No patterned paper
Retro Rubber RRCB56 - old stamps and use a birthday theme

Thanks so much for dropping in today. I do hope to see you again real soon and that you get time to join us this week.

Less Is More # 315 - One Layer - Opposites Attract

Well, Hello to you!

It is ONE LAYER week over at Less is More and we have a really fun challenge for you today

Need some help? Think chalk and cheese, soft and hard, fussy and plain, negative and positive, big and small, near and far, thick and thin...I bet you will all come up with some really creative ideas for this challenge.  But don't forget....it is one layer week!

I have 3 cards today - it was nearly only 2 but one card scraped in by the skin of its teeth yesterday afternoon. So let's take a look:

1) Keen and Wary?

Those cute little crazy animals just had to have an outing for a theme like opposites attract, didn't they? Here we have the opposites of Dog and Cat and their looks are completely opposite too: Keen and Wary!  Once I stamped the two images with the chocolate box in the middle I just had to choose that sentiment. I'll probably use it as an anniversary card for someone that doesn't really like lovey-dovey cards.  This is simply stamped and coloured with pencils with texture provided by glossy accents and stickles.

STAMPS: Tim Holtz mini cats and dogs, mini bird crazy and things, crazy talk
OTHER: WH Smith pack of 36 colouring pencils, Glossy Accents, Stickles, White Linen card blank

I'd like to pop this card in at:
Cards und More! challenge #177 - Pets and other furry friends
Fairytale challenge #161- Cards with fun
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Cute (hope I've not overstepped the mark ladies, but I find these characters really cute!)

2) Near & Far / Crisp & Soft / Big & Small

Here's another card that harnesses lots of opposites The 'trees' are near and far, the crisp comes from the heat embossing, the soft comes from the watery, unfocussed background and the big and small also refers to the 'tree' sizes.

Boy was this a messy card to make! I wanted to use my brushos again but calamity struck when I opened the first tub and the powder exploded out!!!! That took quite a while to clear up, I can tell you.

So there was lots of masking, then brusho spritzing and drying, then stamping and heat embossing, colouring in, line drawing (above and below the sentiment), sparkling the lines, and moon (or sun) cutting out.

STAMPS: Clarity Stamps lupin and trees, Papertrey Ink sentiment
BRUSHOS: Cobalt Blue, Leaf Green, Emerald
OTHER: Memento onyx black ink, clear embossing powder, pumice stone distress marker, clear Wink of Stella, moon cut with my ScanNcut. white hammered card blank

This card was based loosely on the CAS(E) this sketch #208 so I'd like to enter it into that challenge.
also into
Inky Chicks challenge #78 - Clean and Simple (my 3rd and final card)
the Mod Squad challenge - Texturise (dry or heat embossing)

3) Negative and Positive

This is one of those 5 minute quickie cards that I always used to make! Simple stamping and adding a sentiment and the job was done.

STAMPS: Waltzing Mouse - musical backgrounds
INK:  Versamark Onyx Black
OTHER: A6 linen card blank, Sentiment - courtesy of ScanNcut

I'd like to pop this one in at Moo-Mania - music

It's week two of our birthday month and this week's challenge is sponsored by

Guest Designer at AAA Cards

Hello friends!
This is unusual, isn't it?  A Sunday post from me??? Whatever next! Well, you see I was incredibly honoured to be asked to guest design for AAA cards for their current challenge. Woo Hoo!

I had to say yes!
The theme is just fabulous:

"We have an extra option for this challenge, in addition to the love theme you might like to shape up your card. It could be long and thin, a rounded square, circular, heart shaped or any other shape you can imagine, just make sure to keep it LOVE themed and CAS."

I knew that I wanted to make an octagon card shape and I also knew that I wanted to use non-traditional colours, so that was the start of the inspiration for this card.  I had another lovely session of pouncing distress stains onto partially wet watercolour paper, and then spritzing as it dried. I love the way this piece turned out. Doesn't the background add a sense of dimension and depth?
STAMPS: Crafty Secrets "Cherish" set (a set I chose as a prize many years ago from Simon Says Stamp!)
INKS: VersaColor ultimate white pigment ink
EMBOSSING POWDER: Wow! opaque bright white superfine
DISTRESS STAINS: evergreen bough, peacock feathers and iced spruce
OTHER: White linen card, watercolour paper, 3d foam pads, 2mm crystal gems, Ranger distress sprayer

I'd like to enter this into:
Craft Rocket Challenge #32 - It's a Love Thing
Crafty Cardmakers #181 - Love Love Love
Inky Chicks #78 - Clean and Simple
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - The Colour of Love
Tuesday Throwdown #328 - Love Notes
I hope you will all find time to join in with AAA cards and this fun challenge. Please pop over to their challenge blog to get some amazing inspiration from their talented design team. It is not always easy to keep a shaped card CAS so all their inspiration is brilliant for those that want to join in.
Thanks so much for having me as your guest designer ladies!
Well, I've finally got around to creating a 'From My Craft Desk' facebook page this week - huh! It's only taken me years to find the 3 minutes I needed to do that!  So, to celebrate (and drum up a few more likes for the page, wink, wink!) I've added this card in a short video on there. Hopefully you can access it HERE.  Maybe next time I'll do a video tutorial....who knows?
Have a wonderful week.

and 4 winners too (all announced at the same time at the end of the month)!
I do hope you will all come and join in the fun.
So, for birthday week #1 we are sponsored by:
and the lovely Kylie is our guest designer. Please take a trip over to her blog if you haven't already as she has made a fabulous card for the challenge.
What is the challenge?  Week 1 means it is colour week and we want to see you
use 3 adjacent hues on the colour wheel.
Here is a picture of the colour wheel so you can check that I haven't cheated!
The rest of the design team have waved magic wands too and come up with some awesome inspiration for you. Do take a look at their work by clicking HERE
I have 2 cards to share with you today.

1) Hot Hues

This is one of my favourite combinations. I adore hot colours together on cards so I have gone for the red orange and yellow hues in distress stains pounced together onto wet watercolour card. I also love silhouettes as well as getting all washy with distress stains so I am really happy with this card!

STAMPS: Happy Little Stampers Mix Mash set (sentiment)
Stampers Anonymous mini bouquet set (flowers)
DISTRESS STAINS:  Candied apple, spiced marmalade and squeezed lemonade
EMBOSSING POWDER: WOW! Opaque Bright White
INKS: Black soot distress ink, Versamark Clear
OTHER:  Watercolour Paper, Vellum, 3d Foam,  Inkssentials opaque white pen, Ranger distress sprayer
I'd like to enter this into:
Inky Chicks #78 - Clean and Simple
Ike's World - Be You (make something that speaks from your heart and soul)

2) Blue and Greens

This card moves around the colour wheel to the next 3 hues of colours, the greens and a turquoisy blue. A really simple card to make that is oh-so-CAS and is pretty unisex.
DIES: X-cut mini sentiment die 'Just for you'
DISTRESS MARKERS:  peacock feathers, mowed lawn twisted citron
OTHER:  White linen card, 3d Foam,  glue
I'd like to enter this one into:
Crafting from the heart - Anything goes

My new look blog.

I have also taken this opportunity to update my blog template. It's still a bit of a work in progress but I think I've made some big improvements so far. Ideally I want it to be really de-cluttered so I'm trying to streamline everything.
I've made a nifty little page called Categories with clickable picture icons to take you to different pages. (ha ha! I'm pretty pleased with myself about that!) I may copy that idea across to other pages now.
I've tried a slightly different post layout with larger pictures and just a list of items used rather than the full card-making instructions.
Let me know what you think - is this way better?
