Less is More #357 - Red and Green

Hello my friends. Well...December! Wow! The big day is almost here and we have the perfect colour challenge to get some of those last minute Christmas cards finished.

And as it is a new month we have a new sponsor

and once again the lovely Kylie is joining us as our guest designer with a fantastic card. Head over to our challenge blog for a link to Kylie's blog to leave her some love.

I had the privilege of meeting Kylie at the Happy Little Stampers retreat in Manchester last month and she is the most amazing lady, heading all the way to the UK from Australia to spend her time and talents with us. So as a little thank you from me, I made a card with some of her stamps this week.

I actually have only 2 cards for you today because in the run-up to Christmas things tend to get a bit manic, don't they?

1) Doodled Flowers

Here I've used a non-Christmas image to make a Christmas card. The Doodled flowers, I figured they'd do as a poinsettia substitute,  and leaves were stamped and coloured with colouring pencils (love how it makes the flat image look molded), cut out on my scanncut and adhered with foam pads. The sentiment was heat embossed directly onto the card stock and 3 sequins to finish. A nice, easy and relaxing card to do.

I'd like to enter this into:
Make My Monday #60 - Happy Christmas / Happy Holidays
The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #20 - Anything Christmas Goes
The Merry Christmas Challenge  #45 - Anythign Goes + Christmas

STAMPS: Happy Little Stampers Doodled Flowers & Everyday Sentiments
INKS: Adirondack bottle, Memento onyx black
OTHER: Colouring pencils, pearl and white card, sequins, clear embossing powder

2) Holly Border

Here's one where the red shows up a lot better. I stamped the holly border onto white card with Adirondack bottle ink and then glittered the leaves and berries with green and red stickles. Once dry I actually fussy cut around one side (shock!). The sentiment was stamped and then the panel was adhered to a red card base. Another really simple design.

This card is for:
AAA Cards #104 - Christmas
Fab n Funky Challenges #373 - Christmas
Watercooler Wednesdays WWC147 - Anything Goes

STAMPS: Woodware Traditional Christmas
INKS: Adirondak bottle
OTHER: Distress stickles barn door, Stickles green, white and red card.

Please head on over to the challenge blog for some fantastic red and green inspiration from the design team.

That's it from me for now. I hope you like these and I really hope to see you again soon.

Always a pleasure to see what you've made, Sharon.. As I wrote to you when commenting on your previous LIM cards a couple of days ago, I think you are such a source for inspiration, your cards are always so creative and artistic! This time I'm especially in love with your beautiful coloring of the doodled HLS flowers, also a great idea to make a Christmas card with these! The fussy cut border looks fab in your second card, what a great design. Have a relaxing weekend!

Well that holly edge looks totally amazing, but must have taken ages to hand cut! Well worth the effort though. Thanks for playing at AAA Cards.

You're very right about that, Sharon, things do get rather manic as Christmas approaches. I love both cards and especially the Holly Border one. The clean and simple lines, the traditional Christmas colours, and the lovely detail of the die-cut holly border makes your card simply stunning. There is a wonderful elegance to the card which makes it stand out. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

Absolutely festive delicious beauties Sharon. Brilliant use of those traditional colours and your colouring to the doodle blooms is flawless, full of detail and simply fabulous. I love the delicate holly border on the second card too and both perfect CAS examples. Hope you have a relaxing week. xx
