Less is More 363 - Cute

Hi there. I'm here today to introduce the next Less is More challenge and it is our dreaded (or loved) One Layer challenge with a theme of cute.

I really did struggle with this one because my style has moved away from cute images so it was difficult to find items in my stash to use.  So with that in mind, plus because I have had visitors staying which meant not much crafty time was available, I have tried to stick to my recipe of a quick card, a technique card and a masculine card ...... although I've incorporated the masculine card for a boy with the technique card this week.

If you head on over to the challenge blog you will find some fantastic cute inspiration from the design team.

1) Happy Birthday Kiddo

This is my combined technique and masculine (child) card. The technique I used was embossing with a die frame. Here's a close up if the embossing ....

....and here's the whole card

I've made a short video showing the big shot sandwich needed to create the embossed frame with the metal die on my YouTube channel. You can watch it by clicking HERE.

I'm entering this into:
Dream Valley Challenge #170 - Anything Goes (a second entry for me)
Lemon Shortbread Challenge #59 - Anything Goes
Sunny Day Crafting #3 - C is for Colour it
Watercooler Wednesdays WWC153 - Masculine (I hope a masculine child card qualifies!)

STAMPS: Efco Creative Emotions clear pirate transparent stamp, Sentiment made up from: Altenew Halftone Hello stamp, Wow! Mr Wow's wonderful words
DIES: Sizzix Nesting die
INKS: Memento Tuxedo black
OTHER: White card, colouring pencils

2) Hoppy Birthday

This is my (fairly) quick to make card. It just uses a bit of stamping, masking and stencilling.

This one is for:
Crafting from the Heart #190 - Anything Goes
Creative Moments #134 - Anything Goes
Inspiration Destination #134 - Anything Goes
Through The Craft Room Door 16 Jan- Anything Goes

STAMPS: Clearly Besotted In Print
STENCILS: Visible Image cosmic stencil
INKS: Versacolor fresh green, memento tuxedo black, distress oxides: twisted citron and cracked pistachio
OTHER: White Card, misti, post-it notes

That's it from me. I hope you liked these cards and that I'll see you again soon.

You must be wonder woman in disguise Sharon! How on earth can you come up with these 2 incredible cards and juggle guests at the same time!!!! Impressed or what! I love both cards, the frog one is such a lot of fun and so bright and cheery but I'm swooning over your little pirate and in particular your 'embossed / de-bossed' frame. Excellent technique and it certainly makes for a fantastic focal point - one to CASE I think. Have a great week Teamie and thanks for the inspiration. x

Oh my goodness, Sharon, I love the way you've used that metal die to emboss the frame around the young pirate (Arrrrr!!) Great job colouring the little swashbuckler and great choice of sentiment. Keeping it clean and simple really lets us enjoy the details you've included. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

You don’t do cute?... coulda fooled me. These are so cute, Sharon! Love your pirate masculine/technique combo card. I thought for sure that pirate was from Jane’s Doodles, but I was mistaken. Love the stencilling on your frog card. Awesome cards and inspirations as always. Love them. Have a wonderful week. xx

Thanks so much for sharing at the Watercooler Wednesday Masculine card challenge this week. Your little pirate card is such a great CAS layout. Love the sentiments and the embossed die framing that cute little pirate. Your frog card is equally cute! Nicely done!

Well, with lack of stash and having visitors you did an amazing job with this challenge. Love the embossed frame, so great to add interest and to frame your image. And you little row of froggies is so fun too xx

As always Sharon, visiting your blog is a treat! You've done fantastic job with your cute cards especially if you were short of time for creating -no lack of mojo is seen here! Great job with dry embossing the frame for your pirate and and those frogs totally make me smile. I really love the layout in the frog card and hope to try this out with some of my cute images some day! Hugs!

Two fabulous and cute cards ! Love your frogs card, so funny with the prints and your background is just perfect for them, looks like drops of water ! But my heart goes to your little pirate ! I also love to use dies to emboss a frame. I watched your video (great one BTW) and the funny thing is that don't use the same "sandwich" to make them, thanks for the new technique ! I admire your pencils colouring, you managed to give dimension and light to your image, this is fabulous ! Hope you're having a fabulous week !Hugs xx
